Three weeks to go, and on Sunday, 7th September, our visitors will be joining us for the second day of our 50th rally.
This year, we have more exhibits booked in than ever before, including around 50 steam engines on the field, covering all types from portable engines through to road locomotives, plus about 25 miniature steam engines too.
The tractor working field is another popular spot located beyond the vintage tractor section. The display will cover tractors from the earliest, built in 1926, through the fantastic developments of the last century, and in ring 2, a vintage threshing set up, plus other farm equipment.
There will be an extensive display of stationary engines used from the very early days of the internal combustion engine, plus classic cars, motor bikes, commercial vehicles, military vehicles, Landrovers and vintage horticultural and garden machinery. And there will be vintage caravans, pedal cycles, prams and pushchairs from all eras, plus models and rural crafts.
We must not forget the fairground for children, young and old, our field of trade stands, with a wealth of products on offer, from autojumble and tractor parts through to jewellery and fashion accessories, and also the extensive area of food outlets next to the bar!
Beyond this area and the vintage motorbikes will be the ever-popular heavy horses. Eight will be with us, plus at least one foal!
We hope to have a display of some of the tractors, steam engines, etc., from our first or at least the early rallies, but this is proving to be a bit tricky with the passage of time. We do have a number coming through, some still with their original owners or the same family. This display will be set up in ring 2.
The field is in top condition, no doubt helped by the weather and the sheep on the field till a month or so ago, keeping the grass down to a minimum.
And of course, online ticket sales are now building up as our supporters plan their holidays. Don’t forget that the 20% discount applies until midnight on the 5th of September.
Our 60 page, souvenir programme can also be ordered online. This, priced at £3, contains a wealth of information on our exhibits and site layout, together with a very detailed and interesting history of the club, plus photographs from our earliest ‘rallies’. It all started in 1971, with a small gathering of like-minded enthusiasts bringing their rescued and restored vintage tractors etc. to a local farm.
And finally, photographs of the field waiting for us and some of last year’s rally.
